In this workshop, we will explore how very different, very individualistic, very opinionated people can live together in community. What are the critical elements of creating meaningful relationships when we are so different? How do we get below the surface? Are there learnable skills to being in community? We will use many tools from a variety of sources, among them Access Energy Transformation, brain science, Hakomi, Buddhist thought, and Imago.
How It Works We’ll learn and practice the skills in 3 units, each of which builds on the previous.
I. Understanding the Individual Before creating community, we must understand our own internal life. In this unit we gain understanding of the internal factors that will determine our success in community, and practice the skills of being an individual.
2. Understanding Relationship Many skills can help us interact more effectively with others. And we can understand the toxicity of destructive interaction patterns. Firm skills in relationship are a pre-requisite of successful community.
3. Understanding Community Only after we have skills as individuals and interactors can we create joyous community. But there’s a simple secret to it.
In this workshop, you will:
Learn about the skills;
Practice many of the skills;
Learn how to create a path of improving skills for yourself.
